I know the Marines had wanted to get to Baghdad first, but at least they helped the Iraqis dethrone the main statue of Saddam. Then, the AP reports, "Cheering Iraqis, some waving the national flag, scaled the statue [of Saddam] and danced upon the downed icon, now lying face down. As it fell, some threw shoes and slippers at the statue - a gross insult in the Arab world." Even Al Jazeera seems to agree. But where is Saddam? The Russians deny their Baghdad embassy is sheltering him. I believe them; Saddam heard that the croissants are not served warm there.
