My cab arrived at 7:00 (on time for the first time), and we drove to Baltimore in the rain. I went to the Hyatt's gym (actually my last gym when I lived in Baltimore), and had a not-too-bad workout, although my shoulder was a bit balky. Also saw the old manager, whom I had not seen in five years or so. Slept so well, I did not get to our office until 0745.

Did Gore really say this? Did the Washington Post really print this Michael Kelly column? I guess Krauthammer had another couple of days to reflect. But kudos to the Washington Post for embracing diversity (at least among their opinion columnists).

Could the NYT be any more biased? Instead of the headline "Anti-Abortion Lobbyists Tying Up Bankruptcy-Overhaul Bill", they could have just as easily written that "Unrelated Pro-Abortion Provision Tying Up Bankruptcy-Overhaul Bill". What would be the odds of that? And I got my fifteen minutes of fame. I brought the headline to the attention of Opinion Journal.

It was cooler and almost dark this morning on the way to my 0651, which I made easily. The train arrived on time, but departed the station a few minutes late. Much more crowded than it had been this summer, and the guy next to me was gently snoring in his window seat in the middle of a middle car. Funny, BWI at 0830 felt cooler than Philadelphia at 0630. Maybe being outside the city, or a strange weather pattern. Because it turns out that the hotel next to our office is not on our preferred list, I will be staying in Baltimore. In the old days, I would have just done what was right (and a two minute walk sounds right to me), and felt comfortable that I could justify myself, but now I will not be following the advice of our marketing types, who advise me to just continue staying there as nobody has ever had a problem before. So, it will be tough for me to show up at a ridiculous hour this week.

It is starting to look like the IBM acquisition of PwC Consulting is a done deal. First the 30-day waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act had expired without the US antitrust regulators requesting additional information. And now the EU. So, I got my picture taken for my IBM badge today. I suppose we will upload all our photos to IBM, and they will have badges ready for us very soon after the transaction date.

This was a great weekend. On Saturday, I passed a milestone. I tried on a morning coat for the first time ever. Then Notre Dame went 4-0, for the first time since 1993. Saturday night, I took my inamorata to the White Dog Cafe in University City. She had lamb; I had tuna. Sunday, we planted azaleas and chrysanthemums. Now I know why they spell them mums.
