Marco's blog An [almost] daily rant

While dashing for the train Monday, I gave my ankle a little turn on a crack in the sidewalk, but survived to make the late 1:10 Acela with only minor stiffening. Checked into our DC office, wandered around a bit, and replicated my work mail to my laptop, before heading out to Virginia, but not in time to beat the rush hour traffic. I took the DC Subway as far as it would go (Vienna), but that was not far enough. My cab was stuck in stop-and-go traffic for a good five miles out of the ten or so total miles. Good thing I brought some trade rags. Still, with the May sun, I got to my hotel reasonably early, and was treated to a huge room at the end of the hall. The windows wrapped 180 degrees in a semi-circle the width of the hotel tower. Easily big enough for a suite, but it would have been even better had they laid it out like one. Could not stay up through the series finale of Ally, so I crashed by 9:30, and slept until 0530. At 0645, the fancy stereo in my room went off with a babbling brook and singing birds. Breakfast meetings; I used to hate getting up early for them, now I am waiting for it. I avoided the worst of the breakfast buffet, and spent the rest of Tuesday in all-day meetings.
