Thanksgiving Mass at Siena Spirituality Centre.
The out of uniform priest (not even in a roman collar, let alone vestments) was actually pretty good. Then, my aunt served Beaujolais with dinner (tortellini in broth, turkey and stuffing, mashed potatoes with a touch of turnip, sweet potatoes (raisins and apple, but no marshmallows or walnuts), asparagus, string beans, mushrooms (which I passed up), green salad, and pumpkin, apple, and Key lime pies). I actually did not make a TOTAL pig of myself. Off to LI for Thanksgiving. Left early Wednesday afternoon; a gorgeous autumn day. A few layered shirts, and a windbreaker and gloves were plenty, but a taste of winter was in the air. Getting ready for my annual Chapstick addiction. Amtrak changed my normal unreserved train (the one with a quick connection to the Montauk Cannonball) to reserved (and it was sold out), so I took an earlier unreserved train, happy for the extra cushion. Amtrak added extra cars, and by walking to the first car, I actually had two seats by myself, so I was able to work on a document I replicated just before dashing from the office. Of course, I did not need the extra cushion; we arrived in NY right on time. There, in Penn Station, the promised crowds materialized. Still, I got a seat (tight fit) on the 4:01, changing at Jamaica for the Montauk Cannonball (less tight). Caught an ad for Bob's Stores (I assume a discount retail chain). Two women in a parody of the Blues Brothers.
